Each session is individual in nature, and I like to follow your lead more often than you following mine. All of my sessions take place in the early morning or evening in outdoor locations (with the exception of newborns). A forever Texan at heart, I now live in Washington state, just east of Seattle. I love the endless beauty of the pacific northwest and frequently shoot in North Bend, Snoqualmie, Fall City, Issaquah, and surrounding areas. I do still travel back to Texas for fall sessions, and I look forward to it all year. I have locations that I frequently shoot at in Fort Worth, Keller, Grapevine, Justin, Flower Mound, Haslet, Southlake, Dallas, and the list goes on. I always welcome fresh ideas as well if there is a place you have your heart set on. I have a very relaxed and low key approach. I would rather make you laugh and catch that smile than have the "look over your shoulder, tilt down your chin, wink one eye, oh, and try to lick your ear" pose. If you're uncomfortable, it shows in your photos, so let's have some fun! I will guide you and give tips, but let's keep the awkward poses up to the retail store studios.
Children love to explore, so when it comes to their portraits, I let them do just that. Sure, I'll get the smiles for you, but I want to capture those natural looks of curiosity, surprise, laughter, and even the tears (because, come on...anything is possible with kiddos!) As a former 1st grade teacher and the mom of a 13 year old and 9 year old (both boys), I love children, and I know how important it is to capture those memories. They grow up so quickly! (Too quickly!)
I do not put time limits on most of my sessions. I want to capture as much as I can for your session, so I go with the flow. Our session can be as long or short (with exceptions, of course) as you need. An average session is about 1-1.5 hours.
